Meet your Libertarian candidate John Recker

“Just because you don’t take an interest in politics, doesn’t mean that politics won’t take an interest in you!”

– Toronto Danforth Libertarian Candidate – John Recker

The March 19 Toronto by-election is attracting the best group of candidates I have seen in a long while. This is one of the few elections I have seen where the  quality and excitement level of the “fringe” and “independent candidates” is likely to surpass the mainstream party candidates. Here is your opportunity to meet John Recker – The Libertarian Party Candidate.

What is John Recker about? Here is a sample:

What about the issues? Recker’s primary issues in this campaign are social justice, accountability and social services. Utilizing his education in criminology, Recker wants to end the criminalization of addiction, mental illness and poverty. He also wants to implement measures that would change the criminal justice system by using an “evidence-based approach” to corrections. The present policy of tough on crime has created a monstrosity of costs and ineffectiveness. “With great power comes great responsibility.” Those are the words of Recker when he talks accountability. We should, says Recker, hold high-level officials in both government and corporations to high standards, and they should also be held accountable for the problems they create.

  1. His message is great, but he doesn’t seem that bright. I mean, he made a video completely comprised of unattributed quotes…

  2. Well, what’s important the message or the attribution? Does it matter where the thought or quote originated?

Ronald Reagen had a plaque in his office that said something to the effect:

“We can accomplish anything if we don’t care who gets the credit.”

Not sure if his was his original or not, but the message is good one.
